Importer/Exporter’s code?

Importer/Exporter's code is the Customs unique number provided by the South African Revenue Services (SARS) to traders who do business with SARS Customs. Importer/Exporter’s code is applicable on goods purchased from Republic of South Africa (RSA) only

Apply for importer/exporter code by completing the following application forms:

·         DA 185 – for businesses that wish to own Importer/Exporter’s code

·         DA 185 D – for nomination of agents to act on behalf of Clients who may not want to own their Importer/Exporter’s code.

The requirements for application of Importer/Exporter’s code are:

·         Trader’s license

·         VAT registration certificate

·         Addresses of the business

·         Director’s details and addresses

·         Nomination letter appointing agent
